Il nostro paese è tra quelli che sono già in ritardo rispetto ai limiti di riduzione delle emissioni dei gas serra fissati con riferimento al 1990.
In Italia, ma anche in Europa, in effetti, le iniziative più concrete sono state prese a livello locale, molto spesso dai Comuni, così dimostrando che le cose si possono davvero fare, quando si vuole: progetti di mobilità sostenibile, risparmio idrico, uso delle fonti rinnovabili, certificazione energetica, educazione ambientale.
Cosa possiamo fare dunque noi:
– individualmente, parlarne in modo diffuso e provare a cambiare i nostri stili di vita, spesso improntati all’inutile spreco di risorse, e ad avere un impatto zero sul pianeta;
– a livello locale, premere affinchè Comuni province e Regioni adottino sempre più iniziative a favore della sostenibilità: gli esempi concfeti già ci sono e in molti casi basta “copiarli” (K.L. Schibel, S. Zamboni, Le città contro l’effetto serra. 100 buoni esempi da imitare, Ed Ambiente);
– a livello nazionale, fare movimento di opinione per far sì che i governi perseguano nella strada tracciata dal Protocollo di Kyoto.
Personalmente, sono convinto del “potere” dei singoli individui e credo che un massiccio movimento di opinione possa ottenere dei buoni risultati.
